Welcome

Welcome to the public web-site for the AAE 550 "Multidisciplinary Design Optimization in Aerospace Engineering" course. This course in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University is targeted to graduate students and senior-level undergraduates who wish to learn about engineering design optimization and gain experience solving multidisciplinary design problems using optimization techniques.

For the Fall 2009 semester, this course is available to distance students via streaming video or podcast through Purdue's Engineering Professional Education.

This public web-site contains basic information about the AAE 550 class, including contact information for the instructor and teaching assistant(s), the syllabus, and the list of topics (found on the schedule page).  The distribution and collection of lecture notes, homework / project assignments, homework solutions, etc. uses Purdue's Blackboard Vista site.  Students must register for AAE 550 and have a Blackboard Vista account to access this information.  The lecture notes use the Adobe Reader *.pdf format.

The instructor often updates and modifies these pages to meet the needs of the class, so some links might not work exactly as expected.  All material needed for class should be available; if you find this is not the case, please e-mail the instructor.  Information given in class will supersede information given in these pages.
